Laminated — Safety & Security

Laminated glass stays intact after breakage — fragments adhere to the interlayer, maintaining a residual barrier. This is why it’s MANDATORY for overhead glazing (inner pane), balustrades, walk-on glass, and any barrier function. DuPont SentryGlas® (SGP) is 5× stronger and 100× stiffer than PVB for structural applications.

See how the interlayer holds the pane together on impact:

How the Interlayer Holds the Pane Together
Glass PVB interlayer Glass

Two glass plies bonded to a tough polymer interlayer — the bond, not the glass, does the work when a pane is struck.

Ordinary Float
Cracks, then shards tumble away — leaves an open, unguarded gap.
Laminated
Cracks, but holds — glass stays bonded to the interlayer.

FAQ

Common Questions

From 6.4mm (3+0.38+3) up to 21.5mm (10+1.52+10) as standard, plus custom SentryGlas builds for structural applications.
Standard lead time is 3-5 working days for most configurations.
Yes. Laminated builds are sized to match the equivalent monolithic thickness, so they fit the same rebate depths as toughened or annealed glass of comparable thickness.
It is mandatory for overhead glazing (inner pane), balustrades and walk-on floors — anywhere the glass must stay in place as a barrier after breaking.
No special maintenance is needed — clean as standard glass. Keep edges protected during transport, since damaged edges exposed to moisture over time can affect the interlayer.
