Integral Blinds — Sealed Between Glass

CSU Ltd supplies sealed units with integral blinds — Venetian, pleated or Wave blinds permanently sealed within the cavity of a double glazed unit. Because the blind is sealed inside the glass cavity, it never needs cleaning, cannot be damaged, and is completely child-safe with no hanging cords. Warm edge spacers come as standard; argon fill is an optional upgrade.

How Integral Blinds Work

The blind mechanism uses a magnetic coupling system. An internal drive inside the sealed cavity connects to an external control device (cord winder, magnetic slider or motor) through the glass via magnets — without penetrating the hermetic seal. This maintains the unit’s gas-tight integrity while allowing full blind control. Venetian blinds can be raised, lowered and tilted to any angle. Pleated blinds raise and lower. The Smart system uses a rechargeable battery with solar panel — no wiring needed.

The external control and the internal blind carriage are linked by magnets through the sealed glass — the cavity stays gas-tight while the blind is fully adjustable, raised, lowered or tilted.

FAQ — Integral Blinds

The blind is permanently sealed inside the unit. Faults are extremely rare; if one does occur, the entire sealed unit is replaced under warranty.

No. The slats are fully enclosed in the sealed cavity and cannot rattle or vibrate. The magnetic control system operates silently.

6-12 months with normal use. The integrated solar panel recharges the battery automatically in daylight, so in most installations the battery essentially lasts indefinitely.

Marginally — the slats within the cavity slightly reduce gas fill effectiveness. However, when closed, the blinds create an additional thermal barrier that can actually improve overall insulation.
