Overview

Interior Glass — Cut to Size

CSU Ltd supplies cut-to-size toughened glass for the interior of the home — kitchen splashbacks, shower screens, shelves, table tops and feature panels — each with its own rules for thickness and finish. All processing, including holes, cutouts and edge polishing, is completed before toughening, since glass cannot be modified once it leaves the furnace. Looking for barrier glass or mirrors? Stair and balustrade panels live on the Balustrades & Stair Glass page, and mirrors have a dedicated guide.

Kitchen Splashbacks

A kitchen splashback sits directly behind a hob, taking daily heat, steam and cleaning chemicals at close range, so we cut it from 6 or 8mm toughened glass up to 3000 × 1500mm — never laminated, since a splashback doesn’t need to hold together after breakage the way a balustrade or an overhead pane does. Clear and tinted finishes are both available where a painted panel isn’t wanted.

Back-Painted Glass

Our back-painted splashbacks are supplied as Lacobel T, the toughenable pre-painted glass where the lacquer is fused permanently to the glass during toughening, giving a scratch- and heat-resistant colour finish rather than a surface coating that can chip or peel over time. Lacobel back-paint comes in white, black and grey; any other colour is produced as a digital print. For light or pastel colours we specify the paint on a low-iron (Optiwhite) base rather than standard float — the faint green cast in ordinary float glass shifts pastel tones off-colour, and a low-iron base avoids it, giving a true match to the RAL reference.

Wet Rooms

Shower Screens & Wet Rooms

Any glazing inside a shower enclosure or wet room falls squarely inside the safety glazing rules — Building Regs treats all glass in a room containing a bath or shower as a critical location up to 1500mm from floor level, so toughened glass is standard here rather than optional. We cut shower screens and enclosure panels from 8 or 10mm toughened glass up to 2400 × 1200mm, with polished edges on any side left exposed. Clear is the usual choice for a frameless walk-in screen, frosted or satin-etched where privacy matters more than an open sightline, and low-iron where a large panel needs to read as genuinely colourless rather than showing the faint green edge of standard float glass.

Looking After Finished Glass

Splashbacks and shower screens arrive with the finished face polished or painted — site care is about protecting that face:

  • Do rack everything upright on padded A-frames with soft separation between panels. Don’t stack flat — polished faces scratch, guaranteed.
  • Do grip wide, thin panels near the centre with suckers (from 25 kg; mechanical past 60 kg). Don’t carry wide panels by their edges.
  • Do fit within 28 days, above 5°C. Don’t leave painted splashbacks in damp site storage.

Lead time follows the finish and edgework — confirmed with your quote.
