Those hangers were tiny..need to be 2×10 hangers. And galvanized screws on the angles
He built the deck in three days, but the lawsuit will last 3 years…..
Can you help me with the following:
I just purchased a few thousand dollars of decking from a local lumber chain in New England (not from a big box store).
The decking is: Culpeper ⁵⁄₄ x 4 x 12 ft. Southern Yellow Pine Premium Grade Pressure Treated Decking. Premium Grade, Radius Edge, knot free and wane free. Decking exterior grade micronized copper pressure treated southern yellow pine. Our decking is a better quality grade than either premium or No.1. Actual Size:1-1/16" X 3-1/2”
50% of what arrived has a severely damaged edge or no edge at all as it is smaller than dimension.
30% is stained with a black sooty material
20% has knots
50% of it is very heavy and wet, 50% is dry
Questions:
Is the yard trying to pass rejects on to me because I am a home owner and not a contractor or is the quality of lumber just extremely poor right now? (I called, the yard will take the bad stuff back and bring me replacements)
How do I space the boards if 50% are WET and 50% are dry? (I was assuming 1/16” spacing for wet PT boards).
Thank you!
Any tips on how to locate studs behind stucco ?
I’m planning on putting ledger board over stucco for patio cover project.
Thanks
Height height height. This is the 4 thousandth video I've seen of grown men saying "heighth". Width is a word. Heighth is not. Stop saying it. Doesn't look or sound right. 😂
Remember, always check local codes before the hammer starts swinging.
NO-NO-NO. Never attach the ledger on top of stucco or siding or brick veneer. They got the most basic requirement of deck building 101 wrong. Not to mention, not just wrong, but not code. They flunk.
I seen no flashing though..
Yup if I slow down 😅😅😅😅.
Damn skippy.
Simple and great project, thanks guys! 😊
5:10 great explanation 🙄
We need more people like Franky who know what they are doing and take some pride in their work! Great video, but why did you have to punk him with the drill?
franky seems really great at this
Lol, so many code violations…please don’t follow this video. Do more research.
20 minutes later, new drill works great
That Makita drill is also my favorite drill. I love that this whole thing was built with makita's lol
I am seeking deck building info. I don’t need to be entertained with drills frozen in ice
Such a gorgeous book – each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds https://www.youtube.com/post/Ugkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. It's really inspiring to see how creative all these ordinary people are in making beautiful and useful spaces on a modest scale.
So much wrong goin on here
Great video. But not a great video for step by step beginners like me.
Are those 2×10 or 2×8 joists? What size balcony deck? Great Video!
Well done boys
Thought this was a how-to video.. Turns out to be a look at my friend Frankie video.
Haha. Those joist hanger
S are way to small. Hope they don’t get a lot of snow in the winter.
A man that just discovered an impact driver and has been building for this long? I’m going to question his work…
I appreciate these tips!
Yr to goofy for me
This was about the worst deckbuilding video.. Good job
Look at Menards😂
This really isn't a step by step is it 🤦♂️More an Ad for Makita.
what a load of crap
Is it good if the 2×8 base is set on the outside of the posts? With a 3 inch wedge anchor on each corner?
Thank you Frankie
if Frankie was banging my wife I would make him a sandwich…
8 Minute 46 second Makita commercial.
No one is going to comment about the drill being baptized at the beginning of the video? Awesome!!! video good info and techniques. Also good quality video
great job n perfection. wish i was that good
So I’ve been told by a few deck builders that theoretically, only half the post actually needs to be sitting on the concrete footing. Is their any truth to this?
Can I borrow Frankie for 3 days?
I guess it depends on your location but I believe the code is national Your not allowed to notch your railing post because it weakens the strength of the post to a 2×4. Also you need to use the correct size hangers with the correct nails not screws. There was a few other things I noticed but I won't beat you up to bad.
Idk about you but here in Illinois the inspector is very particular about galvanized nails in your joist hanger
Good stuff. I'm almost confident enough to try this…main thing is investing in more tools, including impact driver
How deep is your footing?
why when you connect the woods in corner don't use also a outdoor glue for extra strength?
Thanks. Lots of great tips I will use to build mine.
Great help
Great job, I’m
Building the same deck . Best job on YouTube . Cheers 🍻
