I made ALL my blinds SMART!

Recently, I decided to make all my blinds smart by integrating them with home automation technology. This has greatly improved the convenience and efficiency of managing my blinds.

Installation Process

The installation process was relatively easy. I purchased smart blinds that are compatible with my home automation system. I then followed the manufacturer’s instructions to connect and set up each blind with the system.

Benefits

There are several benefits to having smart blinds:

  • Convenience: I can control all my blinds from a central hub or through a mobile app, allowing me to open or close them with a simple touch.
  • Energy Efficiency: Smart blinds can be programmed to open and close based on the time of day or sunlight intensity, reducing the need for artificial lighting and improving energy efficiency.
  • Security: By automating the blinds, it creates an illusion of occupancy even when I am away, enhancing home security and deterring potential burglars.
  • Comfort: Smart blinds can automatically adjust to let in the right amount of natural light, creating a more comfortable and pleasant living environment.

Conclusion

Making all my blinds smart has been a great decision. It has not only simplified the management of my blinds but also enhanced the overall functionality and comfort of my home.

You should state in the TITLE that this whole thing is dependent on Apple Homekit.
It's totally noncompliant with what I'm doing.

How do you set the HomeKit scenes to get the blinds to close up? I cannot find the option in the Soma app to do this (I have a Some Connect running v3.0.4). Thanks!

@Shane Whatley ever since I upgraded to 16.2 a while back, all I get is No Response for all my blinds. Have you experienced the same thing?

I want blinds that close on the lower half , but open on the top half. This way I can walk around in my pajamas at home without the outside looking in . But at the same time, let in light to the house.

With soma tilt, how would you pull the blinds up?

When you add the wand mechanism, could you have made a cut out on the opposite side for it? then you would have up/down on the outside and tilt on the window side.

Will the automation still work if I wanted to pull up the blinds to any length that's not all the way up? Just bought my first home and looking to go crazy with smart home automation!

I don't want more hubs or apps in my home automation system. It must work either with Z-Wave or directly with Alexa (IP or Zigbee) for me to have any interest in it.
