How much secure is this? Doesn't the glass break if you throw a rock or something?

  3. @jormacroughs3174 10 months ago

Could this be made with the roof also transparent?

    Is that glass or acrylic

It looks simplistic but the architectural engineering involved is not elementary or cheap. This is probably a 500k plus build. Easily. Glass will not support a roof so the black beams are supporting the top half of the structure and the custom made glass panels are huge. If you're thinking about building a glass house look into building supply surplus or used building supplies. Think of the glass store fronts in strip malls. Also, storm resistant sliding glass doors black framed look amazing side by side.Use cinder block construction with the largest windows/panels you can get. Floor to ceiling 8ft x 24 to 36 inch glass panels are common, get the thickest you can afford. Frame them yourself in high quality 2×4's routered out.
Cement slab. Shiny white or gloss black epoxy flooring from local hardware store. A friend did a build in the woods this way all DYI and it's stunning inside.

Where would you find the outer glass for something like this ?

  12. @zakosist 10 months ago

I dont understand how anyone would want to live like that. Like dont you care about privacy at home and actually feeling like you're somewhat sheltered while indoors. I also imagine it gets way too hot at summer. It can work as a sculpture decoration, but not as an actual home

This is what happens when an architect loses grip on reality

Es preciosa y parece un experimento; niños gigantes viendo a sus muñequitos vivir…, tiene un punto inquietante. Igual las personas necesitamos un punto más de intimidad y cobijo.

Yes! This is ALMOST what I want to build in Oaxaca, Mexico where my parents are from on a mountain side! Maybe not glass all the way around, but nearly what i want. Been looking around and watching different videos for inspiration, but I think I found a winner. I'm very minimalist, but i definitely know that I want floor to ceiling windows on at least one whole side. I'm first generation 43 yr old American and Veteran on a pension, no kids, never married, and only recently started looking at homes in the US, but the market is ridiculous overpriced at the moment. I've decided to just build a house in Oaxaca where my parents are from. Their town is in a beautiful valley, and the mountain sides are mostly empty. Thank you for sharing this video of this beautiful home.
