Top 5 Mistakes Everyone is Making with Windows!
Mistake 1: Skipping Updates
Many people ignore Windows updates, considering them an unnecessary hassle. However, these updates include important security patches and bug fixes that can protect your system from vulnerabilities. Skipping updates may expose your computer to potential threats and performance issues.
Mistake 2: Using Weak Passwords
Using weak passwords is a common and dangerous mistake. Windows accounts protected by weak passwords are easy targets for hackers. It is important to set strong passwords that are unique and include a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters to enhance security.
Mistake 3: Not Backing Up Data
Neglecting to back up important data is a grave error that can result in permanent loss of files. Accidental deletion, hardware failure, or malware attacks can cause data loss. Regularly backing up your data to an external storage device or cloud service is crucial to protect against such incidents.
Mistake 4: Installing Unauthorized Software
Installing unauthorized or pirated software can lead to serious consequences. These programs often contain malware or viruses that can harm your system or compromise your privacy. Stick to trusted sources and only install licensed software to avoid these risks.
Mistake 5: Not Using Antivirus Software
Many Windows users underestimate the importance of antivirus software. It acts as a defense against malware, viruses, and other online threats. Not having reliable antivirus protection leaves your system vulnerable to attacks. It is crucial to install and regularly update an antivirus program.
Conclusion
Avoiding these top 5 mistakes can greatly enhance the security and performance of your Windows system. By staying on top of updates, using strong passwords, regularly backing up data, only installing authorized software, and utilizing antivirus software, you can protect your computer and ensure a smooth user experience.

We agree ith everything except No. 5….Macrame is rad.
I just came across lida and cant believe shs saying shuttersare outdated.yesthey block light .andthats a consideration but tosayare outdated is just untrue thyeare avery specific type of window covering.the are timeless .
🙏
She dropped the ball with the shutters. I see them from the outside in my neighborhood (in Texas)and they look very nice and clean way better than normal blinds.
Take some issue with the vertical blinds comment…but I get it. They are nobody's first choice but many of us end up with them anyway for a half dozen reasons. Part of the issue is they are available is such ugly/boring styles in North America. There is no reason they cant make them with more interesting materials and patterns–these are available all over Europe and look nothing like the Grandma fabrics on offer in the US (just Google it). But that being said, there are so many reasons people chose them:
1. Cost — your suggestion of draperies is fine as far as it goes–the reality is I got a quote for $3500 for draperies and sheers that fit my space with all the hardware. For the same window I can have almost the exact same functionality for $600 with a set of fabric vertical blinds. Probably $100 if I bought those awful plastic ones. When you have big windows or high ceilings or both, precut curtain sizes simply don't work. Something that costs 35x times the cost is not in everyone's budget or makes financial sense (I could also buy a new sofa with the $3000 I saved buying blinds vs curtains).
2. Functionality — For sliding doors or large expanses of glass, Vertical Blinds work. Period. You can uncover only part of the window/door to let in fresh air and keep the sun out. You can operate them super easily (they slide smoothly and are not heavy). You have total light control. And, not to harp on cost, but ANY other window treatment that offers the same functionality as Vertical Blinds costs at least 5-10X more.
3. Efficient/Versatile/Changeable — They are easy to install, easy to buy. The are also not permanent. I don't have a problem throwing away inexpensive vertical blinds but I am stuck with those drapes I paid thousands for even if I want to redecorate.
In the end, Vertical Blinds are the product nobody wants but everyone buys (and still sells) because nothing matches their combination of ease, performance, and cost. I wish someone would find a way to innovate on them and make them less awful.
Shutters are beautiful!
I do whatever I want and I do not care
I have to disagree about interior shutters…my white, wide slat, plantation shutters are gorgeous and let in tons of light for my big windows.
Where do you get wood blinds? Fun as usual🤗
Hi Lisa, Lot's of midcentury homes have awning windows set up high on the wall in order to free up more space in the room. I've come to really love my up-high awning windows which you can open in all kinds of weather. The problem is finding window coverings for them, barring roman shades. These awning windows are not very wide, so any style of shade will eat into that precious window space. And placing the roman shades all the way at the top of the wall seems to offset the balance in the room. What are your thoughts about covering these types of windows? They must be really problematic because no one addresses them, but they are in so many homes!! Thanks so much. I love your energy and design style–and your fun explanations!!
macrame looks so cool tho
I can’t take you seriously if you don’t like shutters. i’ve installed them in all 4 of my homes
I think your using the wrong term, they are not dated , they are timeless ! Not everything modern is the way to go ..you can’t deny the fact they add value to your property .. I actually was surprised with the amount of light they let in , Love them
HOLD THE BUS! Ok, I get what your saying about mini blinds…however,.. I just got into senior housing. Guess whats on the windows!!! And ugly windows!!! And whats worse! An ugly hotel style ac unit with a big industrial looking vent coming out the side and into the next wall! How do I hide and beautify this ugliness? Don't tell me what not to do, please tell me how I can create a coastal romantique out of the ugly.❤
Shutters look way more tasteful than any of the Do's she mentioned 😂 Not sure why YouTube recommended this, but dang this video feels super dated for something that's not even that old. Entertaining video format though!
The hate for shutters seems misplaced. They add character and can add privacy.
There’s a rather small, north facing, single hung window in my bathroom. I’m thinking of 1. applying privacy film to the bottom half of the window, 2. hanging a Roman shade from ceiling to just cover the top window trim, 3. hanging ceiling to just below window sill curtains that cover the outer side trim and out a few inches to give the appearance of a taller and wider window. (Panels cannot not hang to the floor)
Question: should the Roman shade cover the curtains or fit between?
New England lol I expected nothing less from that crowd! Well I live in old England ! And am shopping for a blind and I have deep sills 😉
